ADDITIONAL HOLIDAY SAFETY TIPS
1. Beware of Glass Candle Holders. The wick may get too close to the
glass and shatter it.
2. Do not burn trash, gift wrap or greens in the fireplace. They can
create creosote build-up in the chimney, which can lead to a chimney
or roof fire.
3. Unattended cooking is the leading cause of home fires. When cooking
for the holiday visitors or family, remember to keep an eye on the range.
4. Unplug Christmas Tree Lights before leaving home or going to bed.
5. NEVER USE LIT CANDLES TO DECORATE A TREE.\
6. Keep all holiday decorations 3 feet from any heat source.
7. Check all your holiday decorations for bad wiring.
8. Do not overload extension cords or outlets with holiday lights.
9. Most important of all, check your smoke detectors to be sure they
are working, if not give your family a safe holiday season and replace
them, it may save lives.
10. Plan a fire drill now for your home, plan an escape route, and where
you will all meet on the outside of the home.
