SAFETY FALL TIPS FOR YOUR HOME
Summer is over and we have moved on to Fall. Now is the time to prepare
for the cold weather, and we would like to give you a few safety tips
to help protect you, your family and your home.
1. You should have your chimney checked, your heater cleaned, fireplaces
and wood stoves checked. Homes that have fireplaces and wood stoves
should have the chimney checked closely to make sure there is no buildup
of soot which could cause a backup of smoke and gases in your home.
Buildup of soot will burn and set your chimney and possibly your home
on fire.
2. Heaters should be cleaned and serviced so they run properly and not
backfire. which will fill your home with smoke and fumes.
3. Fireplaces and wood stoves should be serviced to make sure they are
in proper working order along with the chimney to make sure they have
a good draft to draw the smoke up the chimney.
4. People thinking of using space heaters should not place them near
any furniture, drapes, newspaper or other items. Space heaters, electric
or kerosene, need space to work.
5. The most important thing to remember is to clean your smoke detector
and replace the batteries, if your smoke detector does not work after
you do these things replace it. A working smoke detector is the most
important thing in your house, next to your family.

Center, Solebury Township, Engine 46 and Deputy 46 responded, wires
